about project gastric
Project Gastric is the blatant and conceptual documentation from start to finish of a woman having Gastric Bypass Surgery. The project, comprised of several different bodies of work, will involve an array of mediums used by the artist. The “patient”, as I will call her, until she discloses her actual identity, will eventually completely be exposed to the the public. In agreement, the patient will be documented during her experience with this surgery physically and emotionally.
This project will be uncomfortable to some, raise strong opinions for others, and be excruciatingly raw. The patient, her bodily changes, and experience will be in your face. The patients total anticipated weight-loss will probably take about a year to occur. Again, I will be documenting this and simultaneously working on these several bodies of work. I will share on this blog snippets of this project along the way. Not everything will be clear or described fully. Project Gastric has a goal to become Exhibit Gastric by April 2013. This meaning, that all bodies of work in their completion will be exhibited by the artist.
